No Glare Under Bathroom Lights: VA Negative Black-on-White Keeps Toilet Seat Panels Always Clear

No Glare Under Bathroom Lights: VA Negative Black-on-White Keeps Toilet Seat Panels Always Clear

2026-04-08

In Japan, smart toilet seats are a standard fixture in homes. Users interact with the control panel multiple times a day to adjust wash modes, seat temperature, and air dryer settings. However, bathroom lighting is uniquely challenging—ceiling lights, vanity mirrors, and even natural light from windows can cause screen glare from various angles. A display that looks sharp in a living room might become illegible on a toilet seat side panel due to reflections, forcing users to twist, lean, or shield the screen with their hands.

ENRICH solves this seemingly small but impactful issue with a single display. Our VA negative segment LCD, with its black-on-white high-contrast design, makes every operation under bathroom lights clear and effortless.

VA Negative: Eliminating Glare at Its Source
Conventional positive-mode TN displays show black characters on a white background. When ambient light hits them, the white background acts like a mirror, producing harsh glare. ENRICH’s VA (Vertical Alignment) negative mode does the opposite—it displays bright white characters on a deep black background. The black background absorbs light instead of reflecting it, while the white characters pop with high luminance. Whether light shines directly from above or at an angle, the screen remains free of distracting glare. Users seated on the toilet can glance down and instantly read water temperature, seat warmth, and dryer level.

6:00 Viewing Angle: Optimized for Seated Use
Smart toilet seat controls are typically mounted on the right armrest or side panel, viewed from a seated, slightly sideways position. ENRICH’s 6:00 viewing angle is optimized for this scenario. When viewed from slightly above and from the side, contrast and brightness reach their peak. No need to adjust body posture—all information is instantly readable from a natural seated position.

COG+FPC Sealed Design: Waterproof, Moisture-Resistant, Reliable
The bathroom is the most humid room in a home. ENRICH’s COG (Chip on Glass) + FPC (Flexible Printed Circuit) packaging bonds the driver IC directly to the glass, creating a thin, lightweight structure with excellent sealing. The IIC interface requires just two signal lines, minimizing exposed contacts and reducing corrosion risk in humid environments. Whether after a steamy shower or during cleaning with water spray, the display stays stable and performs like new.

3.3V Low Power: Energy-Efficient and Safe
While smart toilet seats are typically mains-powered, low-power design remains important—reducing heat, extending component life, and lowering energy consumption. ENRICH’s display operates at Vdd=3.3V with a 1/4 duty cycle, 1/3 bias drive, drawing minimal power. When showing standby status or temperature readings for long periods, it generates almost no extra heat and adds virtually nothing to electricity bills.

Indoor Wide-Temperature Range: Adapts to Bathroom Seasons
Japanese bathrooms can drop near 0℃ in winter and exceed 50℃ in summer due to poor ventilation. ENRICH’s display offers an operating range of 0℃ to +50℃ and storage capability from -10℃ to +60℃. Whether it’s the first use on a cold winter morning or a hot, humid summer day, the display remains stable—no ghosting, no fading.

When bathroom lights turn on, ENRICH keeps every operation clear and distraction-free. VA negative black-on-white. Built for the bathroom.
